TLDR : Answer Summary
Travelers flying to Thailand from the USA on a UK passport do not need a visa for stays of up to 60 days due to visa exemption rules. Comments confirm that upon arrival, travelers will be given entry without a visa for this duration. Extensions are available if staying longer, but no visa is necessary unless the stay exceeds 60 days.

No, unless you plan on staying longer than 90 days. After 60 days you can get a 30 day extension

it's not a visa. You apply for and pay for a visa. It's visa exempt (exempt from needing a visa)

depends on:

1. passport expiry date

2. purpose of stay

3. length of stay

4. record of past entries to Thailand

and in extreme cases, records of being denied entry/deported to/from third countries

1. passport expiry date, not length of passport validity.

Your passport must be valid for at least six months from your entry date.

60 days on every entry irrelevant of what country you arrive from. Although land crossings may have restrictions. Last I heard was only 2 x land crossing per calender year. Don't quote me on that

The two land border entries per calendar year limit has been abolished. Air, land and sea port entries are, in theory, now unlimited. However, that hasn’t changed the fact that any and all entries are at the discretion of the immigration officer you face on the day!
