Do UK passport holders need a visa to stay in Thailand for 45 days, and is it easy to apply for a 60-day visa?

Hi, UK passport holder. Going to Thailand in 4 weeks. Do I need a visa or can I go there for 45 days without one. If so, do I have to sign forms and stuff when I get to Thailand? do I need to book an onward flight?

Also, is it easy to apply for a 60 day visa? I’m wondering if this is the better option

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
UK passport holders can enter Thailand without a visa for up to 45 days under visa-exempt entry. Upon arrival, there are typically no additional forms to sign, but you may need to show proof of an onward flight, as airlines may not allow boarding without it. Applying for a 60-day visa from the UK is straightforward, taking approximately 2-3 days to process.

We applied for 60 day visa in the UK, very easy process and only took 2-3 days to receive it.

it depends on the Embassy. Some embassies need 3 - 4 weeks in high season.

UK is online application ONLY, if you fill out the application correctly you get the approval pretty fast..

Many airlines want a return or onward flight if you don't have a visa

Yes you can arrive on a 45 day visa exempt entry very easily and that can be extended in country for a further 30 days. As for an onward flight, it is the airline that may refuse to carry you if you do not have a flight out of Thailand within 30 or 45 days , depending on which rules they are following.

Thanks for that information.

We were wondering the same thing about our return ticket.

We have one booked. but it is in the time frame of having received the extension.
