On our way to the airport and looked at my retirement visa.

Says I have to apply for a re entry permit before leaving Thailand, to keep my visa.

Does anybody know, can I do this at the airport?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question regarding whether one can apply for a re-entry permit at the airport while holding a retirement visa received various answers from the community. It was confirmed that both Bangkok airports have re-entry desks available 24/7. However, for Krabi airport, it was noted by users that the re-entry permit is not available at the airport; instead, it must be obtained at the Immigration office in Krabi. If someone is connecting through Suvarnabhumi airport, they may be able to request a re-entry permit there. Therefore, understanding the airport protocols and confirming with immigration before travel is crucial.

I hope you got enough time at hand between arrival from Krabi and departure to UK. A re-entry permit takes about 10-15 minutes each person

when you arrive at Suvarnabhumi, take the domestic exit. Go to the international departure hall and proceed to Departure Section 2

they could maybe clear this matter with the staff that awaits them as they arrive at the Gate, where they normally would be forwarded

Sadly, they wouldn't let you go through domestic exit if you have C.I.Q sticker...

Okay, how about we sort this out. IF you are flying from Krabi TO Suvarnabhumi to catch a flight to the UK you CAN get a re-entry permit from the re-entry counter at Suvarnabhumi in the Departure 2 area

If they have connecting flight, they would clear passport control at Krabi airport. In that case, they need to go to the passport control area from air-side at BKK. There is huge counter of immigration where they collect overstay fine, etc. Maybe they need to ask there first.

was kind enough to message me about this SO perhaps all is not lost yet for
@Katherine ***********
..

AND I bet IF they are able to get a re-entry permit before they fly out they will never again get a yearly extension without buying one right then and there :P

Good Luck to them....

@El***
messaged me with this

very very slight chance for them to try.. ask immigration desk to collect overstay fee, etc (after get through passport control) if they can get re-entry permit there.

They already lost the chance, no downside to ask I guess

Makes perfect sense, IF anyone can issue you a re-entry permit it'd be the people who deal with the overstay fines.

You're out nothing by trying it

Good Luck and thanx Ellie

Hope she finds a way...

But Good luck.

Wished she would have obtained a reentry permit when she got her retirement extension of stay recently.

Okay I called that number, talked to them, got a new number which is 075 701 471 called it and was told you get a re-entry permit at the Immigration office in Krabi NOT at the airport.

Now take that with a grain of salt but the gurl was SURE that I couldn't get a re-entry permit at the airport.

Sounds a LOT like you don't have any VISA at all and instead have an "extension of stay" (it's the second line under the location of where you got the stamp from)

AND

Extensions of stays are sold with NO entry (because you're already IN thailand when you get them.

SO you're correct, IF you're going to leave and wanna come back and get stamped in on that stamp you have in your passport now you DO need to buy a re-entry permit.
