Hi all, I’m currently in Thailand on a non-o retirement visa and planning to go to the USA for a month to get vaccinated and vacation.
My questions are:
1) Am I able to get a re-entry permit on departure from BKK airport to use my retirement visa to re-enter Thailand with my retirement visa? If not what would be my best option to return here and get back on track with a retirement visa?
2) Upon returning to Thailand vaccinated and holding a retirement visa what quarantine am I required to do? ASQ? Self isolation at home etc?
3) will I require any special insurance policies or documentation to re-enter the kingdom?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently in Thailand on a non-O retirement visa and plans to travel to the USA. They seek information on obtaining a re-entry permit for their retirement visa, quarantine requirements upon returning vaccinated, and the necessary insurance and documentation for re-entry into Thailand. Community members emphasized the need for a re-entry permit and compliance with current entry requirements, including specific insurance coverage and a negative COVID-19 test.

I'm shutting this down. Talk about the Sandbox is NOT visa related, and neither is the ASQ (or which ASQ is best). There are many groups out there that discuss these subjects and can better help you. Thank you.
You will need to buy a re-entry permit before you leave (which only lets you come back and get stamped in until your current extension expires) AND you would need to meet ALL the entry requirements in effect when you wanna come back
RIGHT NOW
The entry requirements for someone coming in on a visa or extension based on retirement are
100K USD covid specific insurance for the length of time you'll be stamped in for when you arrive
40k/400K out/in-patient health insurance for the length of time you'll be stamped in for when you arrive
a negative RT-PCR test 72 hours before your fight back
14 days booked quarantine at an ASQ Hotel
a certificate of entry from the ministry of foreign affairs
you said you are only going for a month, so unless you got J&J vaccine which is a single dose, you wouldn't qualify for the sandbox. You must be vaccinated for 14 days prior to traveling to the sandbox and that's not possible with any of the double dose vaccines
as long as you are considered "fully vaccinated" before traveling to Thailand AND you've been in the same country for at least 21 days before traveling to Thailand.
oh ok thanks it’s good to know, I wonder how that would work out if I’m transiting from Columbia to Thailand via USA? There may be a couple of days layover
Correct me if I’m wrong as I know an American who returned recently on an Non -O extension with a reentry stamp and only needed the covid insurance . I was going to go back this month but decided to put it off until 2022 . But went as far as filling out a COE with reentry to see
I’m sorry I’m in Thailand I was thinking of going back to US and was looking on the embassy site and going as far as filling out the COE with a reentry just to see requirements. It can be a bit confusing . But Todd knows his stuff 👍
ok thanks, it’s a tough choice isn’t it! For me if I go I can’t afford the ridiculous costs of coming back for a 1 month trip, hopefully they simplify things sooner rather than later or the country will remain empty of tourists.
I’m just going to wait it out to 2022 after I renew my extension in February . My mother is 87 and want to visit her as it’s been since 2019 before the pandemic Good luck to you as well
