Hi all ! Is it ok and doable to come out to Thailand on Non o retirement visa for 3 months then return to the uk for say 3 months then get another Non o for another 3 months and then get an extension to stay for a long time ?? Is it normal to come out on a couple of Non o visas in a year without propblems ?? Thanks for any advice / opinions.
Answer summary
The discussion revolves around the feasibility of entering Thailand on multiple Non-O retirement visas within a year, with a focus on spending time in the UK between stays. While some users share that they have done this without major issues, concerns are raised about whether it's considered normal and the potential for complications. Advice is given on obtaining a re-entry permit for more flexibility. The conversation includes insights on proving financial stability with Thai bank funds when applying for the visa.

Nigel Mills i did 1 last year, then transfered all my funds to Thailand, I've had to come back to uk just as my renewal was coming around, so the re-entry permit had no value to me and i will need to reapply b4 i leave the UK, will they be happy for me to show my funds already in my thai bank rather than UK bank, anyone had experience with this? I can put more funds in but that will mean raiding my ISA account and as people know those ISA limits are gone each year, use them or lose them sort of thing

Osian Ledger A friend got his 90 days non immigrant O visa a couple of weeks ago from UK & used Thai bank to show he met the monthly income requirement so lump sum is fine

Osian Ledger not sure about the Thai bank, but a cash isa is fine, as long as you can access the money immediately, if needed.

Nigel Mills I've always wondered about that & still not sure . An ISA is invariably linked to your main current account as is any savings accounts & would require extra facilitation to get funds to Thailand if incapacitated

Just do the year extension before the 90-days Non O visa expires. You can come and go as you like then if you also get a multi re-entry permit. I stay 5-months of the year in Thailand, 4-months in Vietnam and 3-months at home in France. European summer matches up well to keep me away from the worst of the rainy season in South East Asia.
