TLDR : Answer Summary
When leaving Thailand on a retirement visa, you do not need an exit visa, but you must obtain a re-entry permit to ensure your visa remains valid upon your return. You need to visit the immigration office or you can obtain the re-entry permit at the airport. Required documents typically include your passport, a passport photo, and potentially copies of your passport's ID page, visa or Extension of Stay page, the 'Admitted Until' stamp, and your departure card. The cost is 1,000 THB for a single re-entry permit and 3,800 THB for a multiple re-entry permit.

Multiple re-entry permit gives you unlimited re-entries till the date stamped in your passport as Admitted until date.

If you take a look inside your passport you will see a big stamp, this is not a visa but an Extension of Stay and at the bottom of this stamp is the text: To keep your stay permit re-entry permit must be made before leaving Thailand. You do not have a Visa, there is no exit visa. a Visa is made to enter the country. You can visit Immigration Office with passport and 2 passport pictures, 1.000 Thb for Single Re-Entry Permit of 3.800 Thb for Multiple Re-Entry Permit, or buy this Re-Entry Permit on the airport just before you pass Immigration checkpoint.
