Hello, I'm about to renew my retirement visa, living in Chiang Mai without multiple entry formula.

- Can I buy my multiple entry visa before I decide to leave abroad at Chiang Mai immigration (or at airport?)?

- How many working days will immigration need to process that?

- It is then 1 year valid (of course as long as retirement visa is valid, but that would then go over in the renewment retirement visa when I apply for that in due time?), so that I don't in fact loose money since I don't know when I would live, or if at all (but I would want to go for multiple entry, not single entry).

- The cost for that is 3.800 THB?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about renewing their retirement visa in Chiang Mai and the process of obtaining a multiple entry visa. They seek clarity on whether they can purchase the multiple entry visa at the Chiang Mai immigration office or airport prior to leaving Thailand, the processing time required, and the validation period. Additionally, they confirm the cost of the multiple entry visa. Comments clarify that they will be applying for a new yearly extension of stay, which costs 1900 THB and is issued immediately without processing time. After receiving the extension, they can then buy a multiple entry re-entry permit at the cost of 3800 THB, valid for the duration of their extension.

If you plan to leave Thailand after obtaining your 1 year extension then you will need to get a re-entry permit to maintain the extension.

Okay you've got your wires crossed a bit ๐Ÿ˜‰ .

-First off you're NOT renewing anything ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

-You would be applying for a new "yearly extension of stay" based on retirement.

-You can apply for that when you have 45 days or less left on your current stamp as long as you meet the financial requirements

-You DO NOT lose any time applying early because they add the new year extension to your current expiration date.

-The extension of stay costs 1900baht and is sold with NO RE-ENTRY permit (because you're already IN thailand)

-They issue the new yearly extension right on the spot, there is no 'processing time'.

Then after you get the year extension you can buy a re-entry permit (either a single re-entry for 1000baht OR a multiple re-entry for 3800 baht)

AND

the re-entry permit is good for the whole year your extension is good for.

So the total cost for you at the immigration office for a new yearly extension and a multiple re-entry permit would be 1900+3800=5700 baht
