Yes exactly , it's the convenience of the visa exemption , if there was rules and regulations clearly stated to the use of it people would follow the rules . It's the ambiguity of the rules , nobody seems to know even the I.O's !
How did you apply ? Was it in person or the Thailand e visa website ? I'm trying the e visa website as stated on royal Thai embassy in London website but the page keeps freezing !
Maybe you were denied because granting you another 60 day visa exempt would have taken you to possibly be over the mythical 180 day rule . Potentially you could have ended up staying for 250 days if you got another visa exempt then extended. This is my point there is nothing stated about how many visa exempt entries or how many days on visa exempt is ok or permissable .
That's it , you haven't done anything illegal . It would have been better if on your previous entry they said to you no more visa exempt this year , next time you need a visa. Then you and them both know where you stand .
Yes , I am sure my situation is ok , I can honestly say I haven't abused the visa exemption . When I say about the rules I mean I wish there was something written saying something like , only "X" amount of exemption entries is permissable per year or 12 month period or a set amount of days allowed in Thailand on the visa exempt per year or 12 months , if you want to stay longer then you need a proper visa . Then everyone knows where they stand , including the I.O's . It would even make their job easier in a way . But hey , T.I.T !
That's my point , I am only going there on holiday. I don't max out my stay , never stay the full exemption time , never extend and certainly never overstay . I prefer to have 3 or 4 short trips in a year as opposed to 1 or 2 long ones . I hope that makes sense . I am now looking at an appropriate visa but the Thai e visa website keeps freezing on me !
Ok Chris , thank you . I take it you were told about 60 days only with no extension as you tried to enter Thailand again . I suppose in a way they are trying to help you from being denied by advising you about other visa options available . I just wish there was a clear set of rules to follow . I've got no problem following the rules if there were any !
Right ok thanks . Can I ask if you only use visa exemption on your previous visits ?
I spent about 50 days only in Thailand in the last 10 months on 3 separate trips .I just came back last week and I've booked another trip middle of January for 35 days .
I'm getting a bit concerned about all this . I've only ever used visa exemption.
