Yes I missed stepped 2! Do you know if this is required in embassies outside of Thailand such as Laos, Vietnam or Cambodia? None of the site's seem to specify.
Ok. So in response to Henry Durrant We were trying to do exactly as your wife did. However, today we went to get our marriage certificate legalised in Bangkok (I had it legalised in UK and posted back to me) only to be told it actually needs stamped also by the Thai Embassy in London BEFORE they will legalise it in Bangkok. (I didn't realise I need to also do this step). My husband now only has 30 days left on his passport as of Monday (extension of stay) and as Tod just said, he needs 15 days left to submit application. Meaning, he has 15 days to post it to Thai Embassy London and get it back and go back to Bangkok and get it stamped there too - I'm thinking 15 days isn't enough time now so going to Lao or somewhere else is the best option. Did you have to send your marriage certificate to Thai Embassy London too? Do you know how long it took for them to return it? And
Ok cool. One last question: do you think there will be any problems if the marriage certificate isn't legalized (running out of time to legalize it)...
Thank you for all of that information! Do you think my husband can go there by himself with all the appropriate documentation or would I need to go there with him?
Yes and I can add to that, I asked tod this question too previously. I got a reentry permit, left the country for 4 days, returned before my date on passport expired and had no problems. I was just asking about what stage in your application process you were to see if it was the same as my situation otherwise my advice might not apply.
Does anyone have any personal experience or know the specific requirements for applying for a non immigrant o visa in Lao. I know you can get this visa here and I also know different Embassy's require different things. Does anyone know what documents Lao requires? Applying based on marriage to a UK national who has non B and work permit in Thailand.
