Looking for some assistance regarding extension of Non B (already has work permit) but first time extension .... can you leave Thailand during the period of "under consideration" or is it safer to remain in Thailand and at your place of employment due to the fact that the consideration period involves an investigation by immigration before approval? asking for a colleague

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion clarifies that it is possible to leave Thailand during the 30-day 'under consideration' period for a Non-B visa extension, provided that a re-entry permit is obtained prior to leaving. Participants share their experiences, indicating that individuals have successfully left and returned within the visa stamp duration. However, there is a cautionary note about potential changes in immigration advice and the importance of timing regarding the expiration of the visa stamp.

Yes and I can add to that, I asked tod this question too previously. I got a reentry permit, left the country for 4 days, returned before my date on passport expired and had no problems. I was just asking about what stage in your application process you were to see if it was the same as my situation otherwise my advice might not apply.

You can certainly leave the country during the 30 day under consideration period

BUT

You'll need to buy a re-entry permit and it will be valid ONLY for duration of the 30 day under consideration stamp. Obviously you'd have to also return to the country BEFORE that stamp expired ;)

Do you have you're non b visa (allowing you to stay 90 days) or have you just submitted application for non b visa (and it's "under consideration"?)

Was told by our admin staff not to leave the country until it is fully processed.

It's entirely possible that the advice given to me by our staff is incorrect - we have recently had a situation where immigration provided one advice on Monday only to change that advice two days later.

that is false you can leave as long as you get a re-entry permit.
