I am not the guy who say he did anything "illegal." It sounds like he's violating the spirit of the visa exemption, but that's between Thai Immigration and him. I have no axe to grind with OP. Others say his tone regarding immigration is not justified and I tend to agree with that, too. But he's not a bad guy here and, again, I see nothing illegal.

Well, he's basically living in Thailand for a year on tourist exemptions. Plenty others have been doing that and OP wasn't hurting anyone in my book, but they want him here on a proper visa.
