"Foreign Exchange Transfer Form Explained

The Foreign Exchange Transfer (FET) form, also known as Tor Tor 3 or TT3, is the official form required to transfer money over 50,000 USD to Thailand in any currency to purchase a property. In simple words, the FET form serves as evidence that foreign funds were transferred to Thailand and then converted into Thai Baht by a local bank. The form contains the following information:

The transferred amount in foreign currency

The transferred amount in Thai Baht

@Grant ******
you can't do that FOR a property purchase. Rules require funds to arrive in foreign currency AND be converted by the receiving THAI bank.

I get the numbers Todd but the law requires 800k in the bank - there is also the Thai Baht depreciation which makes your agrument stronger. So far my only experience was getting the first 12 month Non O after arriving on a 3 month Non O (obtained online) in the UK. I went a couple of hours before closing - they wanted a couple of extra photocopies - and asked me to come and collect the passport the next day. But then I had read this great forum and put my stuff together. As a newbie one doesnt really know who is a good agent and who is not till perhaps its too late. I did pop in the visa shop that is inside the immigration campus - their fees were eye watering.

Thanks Greg. No Thai involved. I always wanted to own a high up sea view apartment for my retirement! Though just been doing the numbers - with current UK interest rates and Pattaya rental, rental is significantly cheaper. What a difference a year makes!

They certainly are time savers Todd, not sure I'd agree about the money saver bit. Generally, I like to comply with the spirit of the rules especially with Immigration stuff - otherwise you never know when it might bite you in the behind! Compared to many embassies round the world - The British, Indian and French ones in particular! - the Thai one at Jomtien is not so bad.

It seems anything is possible through an agent! Its not something I feel comfortable with.
