 This agent was really kicking the can down the road with returning my deposit. They were looking for any excuse so I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have got it without a Thai bank account.

 I didn't say I needed it I said it makes living in Thailand easier. Like paying rent and getting your deposit back, etc.
