I see all the shops and businesses which have opened since covid. I don't see many closed up shops around Bangkok. I see Russians flooding into Phuket and buying condos and businesses. You think the western tourists are big spenders? Take a look through some of these groups and see how many are "what's the cheapest way to get here and there?" "Where are the cheapest restaurants?" Most western tourists eat in 7-11 stores, and always have done. So what if the biggest tourist groups are Indian and Chinese? You really believe western tourists are going to drive the Thai economy? Stay away from the hooch shops buddy, it's killing your brain cells.
What economic damage? I don't see any. I still see new rail lines opening and being built. The Bangkok skyline is filled with cranes building new office blocks and condominiums. The Thai Baht is very strong on world markets. Tourists are flooding back into the country again. I can't see the problem. This post appears to be how one miserable retiree believes that retirees in Thailand are propping up the economy. Some people are really deluded. Hoping that Big Joke raises the ante for retirees and abolishes the "agent loans". We'll see some real crying then!
Lack of tourists, short stayers. They don't need to go to immigration office. The longstayers were here during covid. Many beachside places were open. I visited many places during covid. It was great.
Carry both passports. On arrival in Thailand go to immigration office to have your last extension stamp moved to new passport. You will then not have to carry old passport wherever you go
No they won't. Airport will stamp you out in new passport, but the extension stamp remains in your old passport. If you're coming back you can get Re-entry Permit in your new passport, but will still have to carry the old passport until such time as you go to immigration office and get the extension stamp put into your new passport
