Many years ago I needed a 2 day extension similar to you. Went to immigration for an extra 30 days and was told no need, just overstay the 2 days.

No fine but you do get the dreaded red pen in your passport.

I just come in on my 4th visa exempt this year but I only stayed for a month each time as I work away.

It's all at the immigration officers discretion. I have a flawless immigration record for over 21 years.
