ah I was wondering just the ones I know of got their dtv and didnt come till months later. I was wondering why that was different from other visa my ed visa was 3 months as well but I upgraded in country as soon as I got here
did i say it was common?? Im just sharing it has been asked of 2 i know.
Here is an example people have been living in thailand for 10 years doing visa exempt runs the whole time. That ended over night --
I have only been in thailand since may and I already learned in my own experience that things change here constantly with out warning too. ( its in your best interest to learn that as well )
People on DTV Were also getting bank accounts but that changed too and existing bank accounts have been frozen or locked out things change.
You just sound like someone who dont like change or worried about the information offered. You ask for people here to offer experiance on this you assume everyone traveling to thailand on DTV is in here -- such arrogance.
You are assuming im saying its common place. I didnt say it was.
I said im only saying it cause I know 2 it has happened to out of several DTV holders i know.
I didnt choose a DTV due to my foresight of changes and situation that could arrise and complications with the requirements -- so I am on an ED visa by personal choice, sure long run i pay 1900 baht every three months to extend along with 90 day report.
They already changed the savings requirement in deposit account from 1 to 3 months to apply ( ive seen reports from Bangkok bank to ensure 6 months with the money in there due to embassy requirements in some countries )
so im glad I chose the ed visa and not have to worry about if I have 13k USD in account in time to keep visa active ( I move money around frequently and avid investor, so I may not have that balance in a saving account for the time required )
You dont think some IO *MAY* ask to show proof upon re-entry ??? To assume they won't is pure ignorance and lack of foresight
ok sure just because you havent seen it personally doesnt mean it hasnt happend. I cant tell you how many times people like you say the same thing.
Go to all ends to rebuke what I say, until I seen it happen to two of my friends I didnt think they did.
It doesnt happen until an IO asks you at re-entry.
I was also rebuked on passing information that the IDP is only accepted by thailand for first 90 day stay. Cant tell you how many refuted that info then others started to confirm it. So I dont really care what you think.
Its not an issue until they start asking personally I would keep the funds in your account the whole time you have the DTV just to be safe.
Choice is on the traveler granted they dont ask everyone. I know many on a DTV and only 2 were asked. So it has happened and there is nothing in thai law that only requires verification on extension.
Fact is immigration at the airport has the power to deny your permission to enter at whim fofr cause as they see fit and there is nothing you can do about it so I would have proof of visa compliance on hand just incase.
Yes this is something they been requiring due to companies that help get DTV they been putting money in a deposit account for you to qualify and then take it back out when its done.
Some people have been asked to show proof of the funds when they re-enter thailand instead of extending it
