Walrus Thorn The post is about the need for an outbound flight when on a 90 days Non-O. Not about money.

Doing 60+30 days over and over again as a tourist will imo eventually bite you in the ass,pardon my french. If arriving on a visa exempt, a single or metv tourist visa doesn't officially matter, you're still a tourist. It might work a couple of times, but then you might be questioned by immigration and told to get a proper long stay visa. It's totally up to the immigration officer.

Well, depending on location in the US you do belong to either a Thai embassy or a consulate when applying for a visa. For example, there's a Royal Thai Consulate-General in Los Angeles. Who mentioned a US consulate?

Just out of curiosity, is there a reason for applying for the O-A instead of taking the 90 days Non-O with a 1 year extension route?

@Doug ******
I agree, to start with a 90 days Non-O based on retirement and then annual extensions is imo the way to go, as long as you have a Thai bank account with the required amount of money.

Not correct at all. Immigration has the right to denie entry. A visa is issued by an embassy or consulate which are parts of the MFA. Immigration is a part of The Royal Thai Police. They can see your history as a tourist, and if they think you're abusing the system,they can denie entry. Period.
