The OP didn’t want to keep 800k in the bank. I doubt he would think locking in 10 million is a better alternative.

he entered on an M visa and has permission to stay due to an extension of the same, until January. She is asking how he can get permission to stay in Thailand based on being her dependent.

She clearly wrote he has a M visa.

From another thread, the same scenario:

“Entered Thailand at Suvarnabhumi yesterday afternoon with OA visa expiring on 19 Feb 2020. Stamped in until /2020 (i.e. 365 days from yesterday's date). No questions, no queries, no strange looks, no request for proof of insurance. Once stamped I stuck my neck out and asked the IO what the latest was on the insurance angle. He said it's a Visa application requirement, the same as police report and disease report, not an immigration issue. This is first hand, it's me (not hearsay), it was yesterday.”

Just wondering, if you travel somewhere but don’t register in your name, then perhaps you would not need to report to immigration?

This seems to be the standard throughout Thailand- most only require a report if you leave the country and return.
