Hello, I would like to ask about the re-entry stamp, at the airport, can the immigration officer ask you for insurance when you return? And if I don't have it, what can happen? thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post inquires whether immigration officers in Thailand can demand proof of health insurance upon return with a re-entry stamp. Comments share firsthand experiences indicating that not all officers ask for insurance, and if required, travelers might still receive a temporary entry stamp and could later rectify it. Updates suggest that many travelers with valid OA visas aren't being refused entry due to lack of insurance.

There are reports from people stamped for 30 days going to the airport and having their stamps changed to a year. Apparently this started after a meeting on the 7th when everything changed. Nobody has been refused since then with an OA visa issued before 31 oct with no insurance. Good news.

From another thread, the same scenario:

“Entered Thailand at Suvarnabhumi yesterday afternoon with OA visa expiring on 19 Feb 2020. Stamped in until

/2020 (i.e. 365 days from yesterday's date). No questions, no queries, no strange looks, no request for proof of insurance. Once stamped I stuck my neck out and asked the IO what the latest was on the insurance angle. He said it's a Visa application requirement, the same as police report and disease report, not an immigration issue. This is first hand, it's me (not hearsay), it was yesterday.”

I think we're getting different outcomes from different I/O's and it would be unwise to think that everyone will have the same experience as that report. :/ There are other reports that show that is NOT the case..

Ludovico Ocivodul, sorry just checking to be sure ;) In that case, IF you are stamping in to the country and asked for it (because right now not everyone is asked) and don't have it, they seem to stamp you in on a visa exempt entry, you go GET insurance, then go back to the airport and get the stamp corrected to a year entry.

OR at least that's what it seems like is happening..

@Tod ********
, thank you.

and are you on a year-long, multi-entry Non-immigrant Type O-A visa that you got from a thai consulate in your country before you came here OR on a yearly extension from an O-A visa?

That's the visa you can only get when you're over 50 and it takes a medical certificate and a police background check along with meeting the proof of funds. Do you have that visa?
