I came to Thailand on 6 month metv and then sorted out my nonO 3 month retirement visa and then 1 year extension. I tried to do non OA before coming here but I was a resident of Oman at that time and it was not meant to be. Hehe

Luckily, I got everything sorted quickly so I did not have to extend the metv.

You could look into education visa or some other visa.

You could get 6 month multiple entry tourist visa before you come here. This allows you to stay for two months at a time but at the end of 60 days, you could ask for 30 day extension. This could stretch your 6 months into 9 months with just a couple trips outside Thailand.

thanks. Using Allianz global but I know that at some point I won’t be able to afford them. No claims this past year but still a 10% increase in my premium for this coming year.

sadly all of the companies are likely to substantially raise premiums after large claims

The import tax is the wild card. Your shipping company can tell you an estimate but no way to guarantee the cost. So be prepared for surprises.

I all guessing they thought it would help reduce or eliminate import tax but that it not the case for their type of visa and extension.

sadly many insurance companies will gladly pay for small claims. You only find out you have a problem when you have a major issue and really need the insurance

Both work for me. I don’t even bother with vpn since I already have too many shows cued up to watch on both plus I like watching some of the Thai movies on Netflix with the English subtitles. Hehe
