Is Pattaya a good choice for digital nomads who want to live by the sea in Thailand?

Hey guys, I am planning to move to thailand as a digital nomad and still deciding where to live. Here are my thoughts below:

* First thing first, I don't wanna live in Bangkok. It's so chaotic for me

* I wanna live by the sea

* I don't wanna live in a super small place, also not really huge city as well

So, I thought Pattaya would be nice choice, what are your opinions?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is considering moving to Thailand as a digital nomad and initially thinks about Pattaya for its coastal lifestyle. However, comments suggest various alternatives, including Krabi, Koh Samui, Hua Hin, and quieter areas like Bang Saray and Rayong, emphasizing the importance of personal preference in choosing a location.

Rayong is quiet and has beautiful beaches. Not touristic and you never see youth apart from really young with family. Because of its location it's easy (If you desired) to taxi to Pattaya or get to Bangkok. With it's huge tranquil beach front youll find many photo opportunities if your into that type of thing. Alternatively there's Korat which doesn't have the beaches but makes up for it with many water parks for fishing and eating out, Malls and some amazing markets (save one). It's style is slightly Western with familiar coffee shops littered around the centre with lots of museums, galleries and some fascinating history. There's a few falang but most will be teachers and there's the odd bar that opens until pub hours but no loud music or nightclubs. Korat is said to be the 'new Bangkok' and with its growing development and aeroplane restaurants Korat tries to be unique. I've lived in both and would recommend Rayong for a retiree and Korat for someone whom likes a little hustle bustle and chilling in coffee shops. Good luck

Koh Samui

You might enjoy Bang Saray, which is around 30 minutes south of Pattaya.

I recommend Chonburi, have Bang Saen beach, the first beach from Bangkok before Pattaya. Just 45 mins from Bangkok Airport and 45 mins to Pattaya. Have Burapha University there, so have lot of yummy food and nice cafes around and cheap. Have many local market (seafood, vegetable, ready to eat food, etc.). Have good private hospitals same as in Bangkok (Samitivej Hospital). This area you will see lot of teenage and working people, not dark side as Pattaya.

Pattaya is full of bar girls. Also a lot of older western men. It's not a positive scene. The beach is more of a promenade. I would suggest you take a look. Hey... It might be just what you want.. If you're a man. Thailand is a big friendly country. It's busy everywhere now. Koh panghan was our favourite place for many years but like everywhere, it's changing.

Wander far and wide and see.........
John *******
Forget the sea, come to north :)
Galen ******
@John ******
Isaan as well. Some nice small cities along the Mekong and Mun rivers. Experience the real Thailand, not only tourist areas.
Andy ************
@Galen *****
Isaan is not real Thailand. 100 years ago it was still part of Laos. The people don't even speak Thai
John *******
@Galen *****
not Issan here, but on the Laos boarder - love it. Take trips every few months to the tourist areas, but experience/enjoy the province I live in

Your a digital nomad so be a nomad. Keep moving along the coast stay as long as you want then you will know exactly where you want to base yourself it's where you feel most at home. No rush to choose you will never know if you never go. Each place has a different meaning to different folk.

I would recommend Chumphon, not touristy, but with everything you might probably need.
Heidi ********
Hua Hin?
Von ******
Try Jomtien, not as hectic as Pattaya can be. Still has beach areas and facilities Farrang enjoy.
Omar ******
Pattaya is not for beginners I promise, choose another town. Maybe like
@Brandon ***********
Krabi maybe is the best for you
Christopher *************
I think uou should come and look yourself ,,, it's a personal choice only uou can decide
Mike *******
Koh Samui has a bit of everything I live in koh tao but it is very small
Brandon ************
I'd recommend Krabi honestly. Maybe Khao Lak but that might be too small for you.
