They sometimes want to see how you can get enough money to live in Thailand.

With no income they might suspect you try to work illegally.

I think you also you should answer this question for yourself, living in Thailand is not for free, and you are not allowed to work there to support your living, so somehow you should have income from outside Thailand.

The maximum stay is only 180 days, so they can ask for a return flight in 180 days if they are strict. You can extend with an extra 180 days, but there is no guarantee it will be granted.

But normally they will not require this, because it is not even possible allways to book flights that far ahead.

@Peter ********
I think most embassies just fill the remarks field just the same like they were always used to do with tourist visa. Only a few decided they could put something else there, like type of DTV or expiration date of passport.

Anonieme deelnemer 942 Visa does not say how long a stay is, that is mentioned at entry stamp, so unless they give you an entry stamp for 1645 days you cannot stay 1825 days without leaving.

@Peter ********
When you put it this way, why should there be anything at all except the QR code on the visa, the QR code is enough to see anything they want on their system.

The remark might be useful for the DTV holder, every IO will know work is prohibited with this visa, and IO cannot check anyway you are working.

I just don't understand why so many people do this in the wrong order. First get new passport, then apply for visa. It will save you the hassle of carrying 2 pasports for most of the 5 years. And also depending on embassy there is a risk they give the visa the same end date as the passport.

Anonieme deelnemer As a crypto gambler and trader you have a challenge how you can support yourself. This might or might not work.

The comment of
@Peter ********
certainly is relevant, because a DTV issued by a S.E. Asian country attracts more attention from IO when entering the country, and therefore might be a good argument to apply from somewhere else.
Luit *****************
Anonieme deelnemer Just like
@Peter ********
I think it looks better to apply in your home country, but most important is that you apply where you are, and can stay long enough to wait for the approval process to finish. As
@Andi **********
says it is MFA who decides about your visa, not IO. But getting approved from a country in S.E. Asia does attract more attention from IO, and might cause more questions.

When you trade for customers outside Thailand or as employee from a company, it might be seen as a job. When it is only speculating with your own money it just is not a remote job, just as managing your own stock portfolio is not a remote job. Of course there are more or less legal possibilities when you put the assets in a registered company which pays tax and you are employee of your own company.
