but yes, it should. If you have a dual SIM phone though, you can leave both Sims in and turn on the thai one for data use and set the UK one to and call when you want it to. Then you don't have to keep swapping Sims

but don't you just need a text from your UK number initially just to get it set up and then you should be good to go? I don't bank with them myself so can't say for certain but know most others work like that

as beaches obviously aren't that important to you, you might like phuket town, it's way less touristy than the coasts with some great restaurants

People from several nations can enter Thailand just with their passport. No need to apply for a visa beforehand. Canada is one of those

If you want to do longer youll then have to visit a neighboring country and come back in visa exempt which will allow you another 30 days that can again be extended by a further 30 days at immigration
