And if you go to extend, you could be fined 1600 if you didn’t report your address. That means cost to extend could be 1600+1900=฿3500

1-The business visa (Non-B) that you get will only allow you to stay for up to 90 days. 2-To stay longer you will need to get an Extension of your Non B at Immigration INSIDE Thailand. 3-You will NOT be a resident. You will be a Non Resident Alien. Whether you keep your residence in your country will depend on the laws of your country.

If you have no visa, you can enter Thailand twice on a 30 day (visa waiver) entry 2 times in a calendar year (assuming your American).

It’s free. If you leave before the 30 days are up, any remaining days are gone. When you re-enter, you’ll get your second 30 entry.

It’s a good idea to have the cash equivalent of ฿20,000 (cash in any currency) to show if immigration asks (highly unlikely, but possible).

Agree that if they didn’t cancel, I’d have trouble.

I accepted an offer in Saudi. I’ll be there next week.

If it works out, I won’t be working here anymore. If it doesn’t, I’ll be back next year on a new passport.

So, it worked just like my school admin said.

I went with:

*Letter from school that I have resigned, last day of work 15APR

*1 set of documents - Letter of approval for the school to operate + assorted ID cards for each school official that signed

*1 set of documents- Power of attorney for school director + ID cards of owner and director

*My real passport and typical photocopies

*My real work permit and photocopies of each page with any writing

3 hour wait at ChengWattana immigration

Tod, can you comment on the insurance choices you had and which one you chose?

I fully expect my trip Thursday to be a waste of time. I’ll report back.

I have asked. Impossible!

BTW, they’re a good employer. Just not flexible after 40 yrs.

I’m in Bangkok. Work says they’ll cancel the WP themselves. It all sounds so weird, because it’s the opposite of what I’ve needed to do before.

Agree. In Phuket, a few years ago, you couldn’t do anything until you registered your address. But, this was before this ‘after every entry’ bunk.

My sense is that if it really was legit, they’d have to be charging Thais too. But, I’d never press the point.

When it comes to immigration visits, my sentiment has always been ‘Better you than me’. I just want to get done and get out.
