Your best bet is as you mentioned. Get the 60 day unable to travel extension and then apply for the 60 day visit family as you're on a non-o. You'll have 120 days to sort out your Thai passport etc.

They aren't going to take your car away unless you stop paying. Your ex can do what she wants but she signed the contract on her own behalf. Dont worry about it.
