TLDR : Answer Summary
Many users have shared experiences regarding the 60-day Covid-19 extension at Samut Prakan immigration. A key point is whether an embassy letter is necessary; some report that the letter is crucial, while others note success in obtaining the extension without it. One user detailed that they completed the required forms, paid the fee, and received an 'under consideration' stamp without being questioned about the embassy letter.

Just left Samut Prakan Immigration. Filled out usual forms for temporary extension and Covid affidavit form, however, they gave me another affidavit form to fill out as the file in this group doesn't have signature details on the back. Didn't show printed embassy screenshot saying that they no longer issue letters (had it just incase). Paid the standard 1,900 and was given under consideration stamp with due date being 25th November which is when my 60 day visit family extension expires. No questions asked about letter/no letter at all. Easy.

As different offices are giving different info I was hoping to get some info from someone who has tried it at Samut Prakan, and what result they had etc.

The real question IS

Does your embassy issue the "unable to travel due to covid" letter. NOT with a consulate give the extension without it.

If they issue the letter you need to have it, AND if they don't you either need the email they sent you saying they don't issue it or a screen grab of their notice on the website saying they don't issue it.

Although there are reports from different offices of people showing up without the letter and not being asked about it at all, there are also reports of people being read the riot act and given the third degree as to why they don't have the letter or proof they can't get it

I've sent an email to British embassy already and waiting for a reply but I'm pretty sure they're not giving letters out.

go to the UK consulate bangkok website FIND the place where it says they don't issue the letter, take a screen grab and print it out to prove you can't get it.
