Hey yall with the money in the bank requirement. I have it but it’s in investment accounts. Do I have to pull my money out to season it in a checking account for 3 months? Before applying or can I just show them an investment account?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirement to show money in a checking account instead of an investment account for a Thai visa application varies by embassy. While some embassies accept investment accounts, the majority require funds in a personal bank account and may impose a seasoning period of up to 3 months. It is recommended to check with the specific embassy where you will be applying, as there have been changes in acceptance policies recently.

“Provide the salary slips/income for the past 6 months, please highlight them in your transaction records.”

This was requested by embassy during my application. So 3 months may not be enough

I heard that even though they may request the 6 mos of statements the 500k baht only needs to be in the account for the last 3 months

Were they asking to make sure you had that for the 6 months?

@Christina *******
You are right, on the application form it says “please upload 3 month statements as a financial proof” so I uploaded only 3 months when I applied

But the next day they came back requesting additional documents and they wanted to see 6 months along with job and company details. I don’t know why they needed that.. other applicants reported similar requests in this group as well

Requirements are all embassy dependent

You need to contact the embassy you are applying from if they accept an investment account, some US embassies accept them. The majority of embassies require the 500k in a personal bank account. The seasoning requirement is also embassy specific.

@Andi **********
seasoning requirement ? What does that mean?
Andi ***********
@Christina *******
it is the length of time money should be kept in an account. Some embassies require the 500kTHB to be in your account for 3-6 months. Many embassies have no time limit.

ok I see the requirements are changing rapidly. I saw someone said they only had the 500k baht in their account the last month and they got approved. I'll be applying from LA so I'm hoping 3 months is what they require lol

@Christina *******
I can confirm LA embassy only requires most recent bank statement for 500k requirement (checking or savings), not sure about investment account since I used checking to get approved back in July 2024.

Are you American... what is your State?

@Kyle ********
we have seen reports of it accepted at Washington DC AND Los Angeles Thai Consulates.

But if you are American You must use the Thai Embassy or Consulate where you are assigned to use by the state of your US residence
