TLDR : Answer Summary
The question inquires if a share portfolio from the applicant's home country can be accepted as proof of having 500,000 THB, along with income statements. The comments reveal mixed opinions: some suggest that certain investment accounts could qualify, while others state that most embassies prefer the funds to be in a personal account, with only a few exceptions in the USA allowing share portfolios.

Charles Schwab is an investment account which includes a checking account, which could show the 500,000 bhat amount. Wouldn't that qualify? I know Fidelity calls their included checking account a "cash management account" but it has all the same features as a checking account (offers checks and a debit card and the abilty to make deposits, and withdrawals).

Yes, a checking account will be ok, Immediate access is the key, not having to sell stock to access the 500K is what many embassies require.

do you know if a combination of documents will be accepted

Tax returns showing yearly income

Proof of income statements and bank statements showing weekly income being deposited ?

I’d rather not sell shares

Thanks

They want to see the actual 500K balance in an immediately accessible account. Unfortunately tax returns, proof of income statements, income deposits are evidence of income not a balance. I know how you feel about selling shares as I had to do it, but it was worth it.

Majority of embassies do not accept a share portfolio for the 500k, a few in the USA do. The 500k in a personal account is overwhelmingly required.

Anonymous participant 558 funds have to be deposited in a bank. For some embassies at least 1-6 months. For some embassies revolut or wise are not banks. An investment institution is not a bank, for sure.

Anonymous participant 558 NYC accepts brokerage accounts, i cannot recall the others. Have a search in the threads, posts should be there. You can email the embassy you are applying from regarding your instant cash availability within an investment account being used.

Yeah some are less responsive than others. You can try contacting them via F, instagram. some embassies respond quicker there.
