Seeking advice about the 1 year extension based on having a Thai Wife - at ChaengWattana.

* Is booking required, or are walk-ins also accepted? First available booking on the website is 3 Jan, I need to apply on 6 or 9 December. Is it better to arrive early to be at front of queue, or are afternoons quieter?

* does anyone have a recent copy of the document checklist they could provide me. I've been working of Phitsanulok checklist, so not sure what requirements would be different.

* For the B400,000 statement and letter from the bank, can that be from a few days before the application, or do I have to get something from the bank on the morning of application

* Does the KorRor22 have to be printed same day as application, or can be earlier? Phitsanulok office require it printed same day as the application.

* How much notice do they normally give before home visits? What if you are out at the shops, visiting friends, restaurant, etc?

For reference - I'm on an Australian passport, with Non-Imm O visa. Current entry stamp expires 9 December, visa stamp is already expired. Married to Thai wife. We tried to apply today at Phitsanulok immigration, since we are currently staying there, however, have been sent to apply at Bangkok immigration since that is our more primary residence (we alternate between both locations frequently) and were planning to be there most of December.

Phitsanulok immigration said there would be 3 home visits during the 30 day under application period, and at least 1 would be unannounced, and if we were not home when they turned up the whole visa would simply be cancelled.

Any advice appreciated, as I'd like to avoid multiple trips out to ChaengWattana.

Hey everyone,

I'm planning on getting my DTV Visa in Taiwan next week, early December 2024, and I've been reviewing all the posts from people who got it successfully from this group.

I have my own business and have been working online full-time since 2013.

I'm finalizing all the documents that I will bring with me and here's what I have so far:

- Taiwan sim to provide a number

- Receipt of my Airbnb

- Valid passport (Mine's good until June 2026)

- Photocopy of my passport

- Stripe account from January 2024 to highlight client payments

- Business account with over 500k THB showing cashflow from January 2024 and highlighting the amount that came from Stripe

- Investment account with over 500k THB with my name showing

- Completed visa application form from their website

- 2 x Recent color photo with white background 3.5 x 4.5cm

- Cover letter summarizing what I do for work

- Letter of Employment (written by myself in my company name and signed by me)

- Employment Agreement saying that I've been working for my company since 2013 and I do it all online

- Documents of my company formation in Canada, my name is showing as well

- Contract with clients in 2024

- Invoices I have sent to clients over the past few months

- Print out of my website, YouTube channel, Instagram, and podcast and me conducting Zoom calls with students

- 11k TWD in cash for the fee

Did I miss anything?

Never been to Taipei so just making sure.

Thanks to everyone who shared their experience getting their DTV in Taiwan. It's been so helpful putting everything together.

I want to apply for DTV next week at Kuala Lumpur. Their website has a list of 5 documents required for the soft power-related activities, but the Checklist_DTV.pdf at the bottom of the same page has 8, the extra ones are rental agreement and payslips/income proof.

Do you know what they actually ask for?

Quick report on applying for a non O ( marriage) visa for the first time at the RTC Penang today. We arrived around 8-30am and there were around 20 people queuing outside. Doors opened at 9am and everyone moved to the outside document checking area. I handed over the completed checklist from the website ( attached. Note that it needs to be signed at the bottom) with all copies attached to it. After the staff completed checking documents I moved to inside the building where was given a queue number. I paid the fee RM320. Note I used the application form from the website. No original documents were checked. They had no questions for me or comments and at 9-15am I left with receipt in my hand and advised to collect my passport and visa on Thursday 3pm. Went like clockwork. The only document copy that I handed over that isn’t mentioned on the checklist was a copy of my passport page with the Malaysia entry stamp on it. Note when traveling to Malaysia now you have to complete an MDAC ( Malaysia Digital Arrival Card) online before arrival and print out a copy to hand to the IO.

HOW I DID MY THAI DRIVER’S LICENSE.

I went to the DLT (Dept of Land Transport) at Bangkok, Chatuchak today. Started at 8AM and got my Thai license by 3PM. Parked my car nearby outside DLT. Clinic nearby car park too and opens 7AM.

✅A quick medical check then a short walk to DLT building #4, on 1st floor inside turn right to Foreigner section, took a queue number to verify my documents. Documents passed to me and staff told me to go 2nd floor at 11am. We went behind building #4 where there’s a nice canteen for breakfast and lunch only.

✅Breakfast done, we went to 2nd floor, took a queue number and submitted my documents. Next documents passed to me and told to go 3rd floor for “physical fitness tests”.

✅At 3rd floor, go to counter, submit documents and take queue number. When they are ready, go for 4 simple tests. Colour blindness test. Depth perception test. Reflex test. Peripheral vision test.

✅Once done, go to 4th floor to wait for training video 1hr. My time slot was 1PM. Video in English.

✅After video, took back documents and went to 2nd floor to get queue number. This is the part you pay B$205 (CASH), photo taken and you get your Thai license on the spot 🥳 Happy as a bird 🦅

Documents:

-Passport copy + original.

-Visa copy.

-Your country driver’s license copy + original.

-Resident Certificate original.

-Medical fitness certificate (Valid up to 1 month). B$150 at clinic outside DLT.

* Chiang Mai Immigration Non-O (over 50) application report *

I read a useful post ([members only]/) in this group and thought I would add my own report as well. I arrived on 14-01-2024 (two days ago) on a 30-day visa exempt entry and went to Chiang Mai immigration at the airport today to apply for an in-country Non-O based on being over 50 ("retirement visa").

After all was settled, I was told to come back on Feb 6 (I guess that works out to 15 working days from today) but the lady did mention that it might not actually be ready then and I might need to come back the next day instead. Not sure what that's all about but it's no big deal either way for me. I was told to go to counter 3 between 13:00 and 16:00 on that date and there was no need to get a queue.

Here are a few potentially useful details.

(1) I mostly knew what documents I needed thanks to that post I referenced so my first order of business was to go the bank to get the account statement and get my bankbook updated. I asked for two copies but was told each copy is 100 THB and I wasn't sure that I needed two original copies so I just had one original made plus a photocopy, which seemed to be just fine in the end.

(2) My bank didn't open until 10:00 so I guess it isn't possible to get an early start if you are so inclined unless it's possible to get your passbook updated via ATM (maybe someone who knows can comment on that). If that is possible, I guess you could go 1-6 days early for the bank statement and then hit an ATM in the morning to update your passbook and get to immigration early.

(3) After the bank I went to a copy shop to print out copies of my TM30 and make copies of my passport data page and visa/entry page. I should have made copies of the bankbook but forgot so I had to do that at immigration (they have a copy center there which is 2 THB per copy; you can also get photos made there if needed). A volunteer told me I only needed copies of my first and last bankbook page and that passed muster with the official document check people as well, but after I officially submitted everything to the processing counter they asked me to go make copies of the missing pages as well.

(3.5) You generally need to sign your name to every page you end up copying/printing (TM30, bankbook, passport pages) so don't forget to do that. You also need to add your phone number under your signature on the main visa application (there is no field requesting it though).

(4) Speaking of volunteers and document checks... when you first arrive you pass a small booth, tell the attendant what you are there for and you receive a queue number. Then you go to an outdoor (but shaded) area to fill out and organize all your documents. There are a few volunteers on duty there to help you out and it's a wise idea to show one of them all your documents after you finish to make sure you have everything in order. They helped me catch a few things I missed. Once cleared with a volunteer, you wait for your queue number to be called. You then go to the relevant counter and an official immigration employee will check that everything is in order and give you a new queue number. You then go into the main building to counter 7 to submit your documents.

(5) I had zero wait inside the main building to submit my documents. Then, as I mentioned, I had to make some extra copies and then given my instructions to come back on Feb 6. I think that all took 15-20 minutes. The longer wait was for document organization/check, especially as I arrived around 10:45 and they take their lunch break from noon (?) until 13:00. It actually wasn't bad though as I just walked the short distance to Central Airport and got some lunch and walked around. When I got back around 13:00 I had to wait about an hour before my queue number was called so I guess in all I waited about 3 hours from arrival to the point of submitting my documents and then another 15-20 minutes, so probably 3.5 hours in total.

(6) After submitting my documents inside the main building, I was asked to state what my occupation was prior to retirement. I was also asked to provide a Thai person's name and phone number as a reference. I hadn't read about this before (and nobody in the document control area asked me to do that either) so I don't know if everyone gets asked that or only some people. That can actually be a bit tricky as I almost exclusively communicate with my Thai friends via Line. Luckily I knew the phone number of one friend and used it.

(7) I am attaching a photo I took of the Non-O requirements posted on the wall. The post I reference also attached a similar photo but it wasn't the same (his looks like a photo of a paper whereas mine is of a sign hanging on the wall). The main difference is that the prior poster's information does not say you need a copy of a house or rental agreement whereas the one I saw posted does. For the record, I did NOT need to submit that so I guess the original poster's attachment is more accurate.

Finally, as the admins here often point out, different offices have different requirements so this report should only be considered applicable to Chiang Mai.
