Hi everyone I would really love to work for my current Australian employer remotely but live in Thailand for some time. I’m very confused about visas unfortunately I don’t have a masters degree. Is there any other possible visas you could suggest ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Several users suggested visa options for someone wanting to work remotely from Thailand for an Australian employer. The most recommended choice is the LTR Remote Worker visa, which allows for legal remote work without needing a master's degree. Other options discussed include the elite visa and ED visa, but these do not permit work. Some commenters cautioned against working illegally in Thailand, noting the legal ramifications and emphasizing the importance of proper visa and work permit compliance.

You need to walk before you can run Might be good idea to ask your Australian employer first if he or she will allow you to work remotely in thailand

If applicable, Long-Term Residence visa.

Or set-up a Thai company and operate on a service agreement with the Australian entity.

with due respect he's a remote worker (digital nomad) He's working in Australia, getting paid in Australia and paying Tax in Australia. Very simple use a VPN sited in Australia and that is where he's working. The gentleman is not taking a Thai citizen's job. Because they are not allowed to work in Australia without a visa. This question is more for the nomad groups which are many.

makes no difference what he is. It is illegal to work inside of Thailand without a work permit which in turn requires an appropriate visa. He's currently working in Australia but wants to live in Thailand and work from there. Doesn't matter if he uses a VPN, whether he's taking a Thai job or not, the bottom line is he's planning to work inside Thailand and without the appropriate paperwork that is illegal. Please stop misleading

no idea and it makes no difference to the legal situation. It's illegal to work without a work permit and a visa that allows you to hold one. That's it, there's no grey area, there's no I'm a digital nomad, it's illegal. I know many digital nomads do it but they are doing so illegally.

You don't need a master's for the LTR visa, it just reduces the financial requirements for you salary wise.

The only one you can get really that you can officially work on is the LTR visas… most visas you cannot work on legally, if caught working on a visa you are not allowed to work on will cause punitive action against you…visas you cannot work on are the 6 month METV, 60 day SETV, Ed visa etc….

The ONLY visa that would legally allow what you want to do is the LTR Remote Worker visa.

Otherwise it's technically illegal to work in Thailand even if it's remote work, without a work permit. It's not really enforced though.

You'll probably have trouble finding a visa that will work for you though

All you can do is work illegally, which many do, but stay under the radar and don't tell anyone. Authorities will not bother you unless they get a complaint.

Excellent! That's obviously the way to go. I'm surprised the other 20,000 digital nomads don't do that, as it's so easy!
