Hi, hope you could give me an advise. I am based in Germany and would like to work remotely from Thailand for 3-5 Months. Is there any way to do it legally, not with a tourists visa? Is there a visa, or work permit for this type of stay? In the pandemic it wasn't an problem for my company. Now I have to do it by the book. Thanks in advance. Have a great weekend everyone!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on legally working remotely from Thailand for 3-5 months without using a tourist visa. Various responses suggest looking into the new BOI LTR remote worker visa, which has uncertain qualifications but will be available for applications. However, some commenters state that currently, most remote workers operate on tourist visas and advise caution. Others mention that if the user's company has a branch in Thailand, they could explore that route, as well as the need for a Non Immigrant B visa and a Work Permit to work legally.

Lookup the new BOI LTR remote worker in Thailand visa. It's only going to be attractive to a very limited subset of people, but depending on your circumstances you may qualify.

The only problem is that we don't know what the actual qualifications are yet since the law hasn't been written, yet it's supposed to open for applications on September 1st.

Also keep in mind that it may not appeal to you since it's meant to be long term (10 years) and has a 50,000₿ application fee.

There's either a branch office or a representative office structure which your company could form. There are differences in the registration and tax status of those structures, but they both require input from your company, and registration. Other than that, you just keep your head down and carry on.

There is no way to do it at this time. Period end of story.

Most people who work remotely here (as in get paid into their bank account in THEIR country for their work) do so on tourist visas or some other visa type.

They keep their head down, their mouth shut and for the most part are okay.

there is no rule change and there is no "by the book" thing your company can follow unless they have a branch office here

To do it legally: You need the Non Immigrant B visa and a Work Permit.
