TLDR : Answer Summary
The process of converting a tourist visa to a 'B' visa in Thailand may vary by immigration office. It is recommended to visit or call your local immigration office for specific requirements, as some offices may not allow the conversion or may have specific time limitations on your current visa. Generally, it is suggested to check for listed requirements and gather the necessary documents before proceeding.

Hi Todd
@Tod ********
, we normally organize the B visa paperwork and work permit applications in house and have the applicant apply for the visa outside the country. However we have not tried to convert a tourist visa to B visa before and I was looking for information on how this could be done.

then I see a trip to your local immigration office in the near future. ;)

The requirements to get a 90 day Non-B inside the country at the immigration office and outside the country at a thai consulate are not the same, In country requires much more documentation.

Good Luck (y) it definitely CAN be done (at some offices)

Just curious

but if indeed you "deal with these things in house" shouldn't your company know whether your immigration office can or can't do a conversion from a tourist visa or a 30 day visa exempt entry to a 90 day Non-B visa? :O

Not every immigration office can do the conversion and they require different amounts of time remaining on your entry stamp to do them. In bangkok you need 15 days or more, in Chiang Mai you need 21 days or more.

I see a trip or call to your local immigration office to find out if they do it and then to get the specific hand out from them that lists the requirements to do it there.

I guess the easiest way is to have your thai staff to go to immigration office serves your area to get a handout of requirements.
