TLDR : Answer Summary
Travelers entering Laos with two iPhones purchased in Thailand are generally not subject to import tax, especially if they are used and not in original packaging. If the phones are declared as personal and work devices, it further reduces the likelihood of scrutiny. Additionally, individuals may qualify for a VAT refund on the phone bought in Thailand if they lack a long-term visa.

Without boxes, no problem. Work and family phone

Remove the plastic from the box or take out the phone from box (then no import tax to pay) any original packaging that has been opened...... No tax(providing number of of items does not go over allowed limit which differ with countries and territories. But in case of 1 no issues at all

If you don't have a long term visa you could even get a VAT refund from the iPhone you bought in Thailand.

2 phones isn't suspicious. If they ask one is for work and one is personal

If you're using the phone, don't bother declaring it.
