Hey all, we're moving to Chiang Mai this fall. My husband will be teaching. I'm curious if anyone from the US knows this...does the background check for the Non-Immigrant Type B visa have to apostilled or officially certified? Or can we just order it from the FBI and that's good enough?

Same question in regard to birth certificates and marriage certificates.

GUARDIAN VISA Question: I need to extend my guardian visa. I went today (to Chiang Mai immigration and waited 10 hours) with all the relevant documents including a notarised / apostille birth certificate (stamped by the Foreign Office in UK) of my son and was told this wouldn't do and I need to get it stamped by the British Embassy in Bangkok. This is despite the same document being adequate last year. Have there been any changes in brith certificate requirements for guardians? The issue now is that the British Embassy in Bangkok does not do this and clearly lists the services they provide - this not being one of them. Any suggestions/ advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi I am a UK national and have just moved out of Bangkok to Kalasin and am attempting to get my Yellow House Registration book at my inlaws address. The application is supported by the family and Thai wife is 4 months pregnant.

1/ I have been told I need to get a Certified copy of my Passport and it appears my Birth Certificate also (they need to confirm parents name, occupation and place of birth) - do I get this from the British Embassy and then translate at an authorised translation service ...then have the translated copy certified at Chaeng Wattana??? Is there an easier way?

2/ Presently my Marriage Visa is from Savannakhet. I have read some forums stating that I will be unable to get the Yellow book unless my Immigration Address tallies with the Yellow book address. This makes sense in principle but given I have a Visa from outside Thailand is there a way to change the address in Immigrations' System? or does this not matter?

Looking forward to your advice
