I am about to apply for the one year extension of my Non-o (I have a Thai child)

However my daughter's Thai ID card is expired, I do have her birth certificate.

Will I need her Thai ID? or will the Birth certificate be fine?

Also she is currently in another province. Will I need her to be there or not?

Thanks in advance for any advice, Shane

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster is preparing to apply for a one-year extension of their Non-O visa due to having a Thai child and is unsure if they need their child's expired Thai ID card or if the birth certificate will suffice. Several community members advised that it's important to consult the immigration office beforehand to clarify required documentation, including potential photo requirements and whether the child must be present during the application process. Experiences shared indicate that while the birth certificate may be acceptable, the immigration office may have specific document and photo requirements, including evidence of cohabitation and the child being present.

From personal experience in Bangkok (Chaengwattana), they require all the above (pics at school with both parents and school name) and at home (with address, room number, etc.) as well as your child and mother at immigration. Birth certificate and housebook. No ID.

You will need the photographs of you and your thai child standing in front of your address numbers, another photo of you and them standing in front of their school in their school uniform), etc.

Those are pretty standard as far as required photos when you get an extension based on supporting a thai child.

I certainly would make the visit to the immigration office well before you need to apply for this extension so you know IF it can be done and what documentation, photos, copies, etc you need to do it.

The only time I have seen someone get a yearly extension based on supporting a thai child when the child didn't live with them was when their child was enrolled in a school in a different province. Even then they had to have the photos of the child/parent at the parent's address (the one you use for the extension) and photos of the parent/child at the entry to the school, and the child had to accompany the parent to the immigration office for the extension to be issued.

Will you be living with your Thai child in Thailand?

You definitely need to go talk to your immigration office well before you show up to apply for the year extension to see what documents you need

AND

ask them if your child has to show up too. It is my experience that they do have to be there seeing as they're the reason for the extension but again that's up to the immigration office

I didn't mean to give you vague answers, but it's so immigration office specific that you're better off going there and getting the answer from them, at least then you know what's what

Sincerely good luck with it
