Birth Certificate Advice. One of my sons was born in the UK and has his UK birth certificate. We now need to apply for his Thai ID and need to get his official Thai Birth certificate which was never done before. We contacted the officer here in Bangkok and they told us the only way to get this is for my wife, my son and myself to fly back to the UK and obtain an official one from the Thai Consulate in London. They need to see all 3 in person. This seems crazy. His mother is Thai and Im from the UK. Anyone know any way to get an officially issued Thai birth certificate in Thailand. Thx

there has to be a way to get it done without anyone going back to the UK.

I'd say get a hold of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs office here in Bangkok because that's who runs the thai consulates and embassies scattered around the world.

DON'T trust any advice from a low level paper pusher there either. Get as HIGH up the food chain as you can to get a real answer.

Yep, you should have gotten the thai birth certificate from the thai consulate in the UK before you winged your way here.

That's how it's done for people born out of thailand.

Yeah wish I had checked. Was a long time ago. Thought there may be a way to register the birth here as they can see the mother and all documents etc...
