This is for my American comrades. How did you get your birth certificate notarized? In VA we just go to the DMV and we can get the official long form. There is no option for notarization.
What did you do?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Americans seeking to get their birth certificates notarized while in Thailand can do so through the US Embassy, which offers notarization services for a fee and requires an appointment. Alternatively, a Thai lawyer may also be able to assist with notarization if the receiving agency accepts that method. It's important to note that individual states issue birth certificates, and therefore, one cannot notarize the birth certificate itself, but can create a notarized document attesting to its authenticity.

unfortunately your question doesn't sound in the least like a thai VISA question.
Sadly (for you) the group has a very narrow focus and is about questions for visas to thailand.
To get your answer IF you're in Thailand you go to the American Citizen Services website and read about how to get things notarized.
Because birth certificates are issued in the US by individual states you can't get the birth certificate itself notarized. What you do is a "blank notary" and fill out that "document xxxx, a birth certificate issued in xxx on xxx is a real and true document". <- Then they notarize your signature on that document.
