Hello - maybe someone in the same boat or has been before. Feel free to message me personally if so 🙂.

I’m half Thai, born in the US. Have a Thai birth certificate only. Came to Thailand on a visa exemption right before all this Covid stuff started, as the Thai embassy told me I’d be able to easily take my Thai birth certificate to the appropriate offices and get my ID cards and subsequently Thai passport. Of course, it wasn’t that easy, and I need some more stuff from the Thai embassy in the US, but now with Covid that’s delayed. 

In the meantime, does anyone know if a Thai birth certificate qualifies for certain visas - specifically Thai nationals returning home / visiting family visas. Thanks in advance.

Surely you Thai birth certificate is enough to get I’d card and then Thai passport, you wouldn’t need a visa, but dare to say nothing is simple.

you’d think so, as did the Thai embassy in the US, but apparently also need 3 power of attorney forms signed by my Thai father and the Thai embassy, my American mothers passport translated into Thai, and parents US marriage certificate also translated 🤕
