TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking advice on purchasing travel insurance after their policy from their home country expired while visiting Thailand. Several comments suggest different insurance providers, such as Caremed and AXA, and another user shares their experience with extending insurance while abroad. Options like SafetyWing and Genki are also mentioned. One comment advises checking if the original insurer can extend the current policy for continued coverage.

Why not self insure? Only big business is allowed ro self insure in Canada....that has to mean something....

I had that. It was very difficult and expensive to extend a policy when already abroad. You just have to bite the bullet. No good lying online as to where you are, as you won't be covered...of course. Not an answer for your query but when I entered on a 60 day visa last time, I bought a 90 day policy as the extra cost was minimal in case I stayed longer.

Have you tried to contact the original insurer to see if they can extend the policy. You were obviously satisfied with the level of cover you got and extending the same policy will ensure that you get the same level of cover and if anything did happen, it’s easier to deal with a company from your home country.

I was able to extend my policy previously but my policy hadn’t expired. Hope you get sorted as it will be expensive if anything was to happen.
