Participants share various recommendations, including local providers like Pacific Cross and AXA, as well as international options such as SafetyWing, Cigna International, and travel insurance plans from home countries. Many emphasize the importance of having health insurance, citing experiences with expensive medical emergencies. with Allianz. Very easy claim process and support during and after! Cannot speak highly enough of their service so far.

I contacted Rabbit Care, which was a recommendation by this group. They are free and help connect you to the best plans-- based off your budget and needs.

Pacific Cross. I tried using Cigna but submitting claims was frustrating at best.

i use a longterm travel insurance for young (<50) people from my home country. its way way cheaper than all those expat insurances. can do that for 2-5 years. later probably switch to an expat insurance, but why waste money now š¤·āāļø
The coverage from travel insurance is usually much better than any thai insurance as well, covers both OPD and IPD and last but not least also covers repatriation back to your home country if that is needed. Using an over priced thai insurance is the last option.

Amex platinum gives cover. I also have a health insurance with a HK company, so double up.
there is no battle with a good travel insurance. and this is DTV group. many people stay a limited time⦠there is amazing travel insurances for travel, work & learn. especially for young people (<40 / <50)⦠and those cost a fraction of a full expat insurance. because you usualy require having a āgovernment insuranceā back home. at least in germany thats the case⦠these travel insurances cost 40-60⬠per month and can do about 5 years. it would be incredibly dumb to waste hundreds per month on an expat insurance.
Because medical care in the USA is off the charts expensive. That said, they do hsve a provision that if you are in the USA and have an emergency, they will cover it up to a certain amount. Also, they offer a similar policy the INCLUDES USA coverage but very expensive. You can keep premeiums down by paying on an annual basis. I think they cut 10% off the price compared to paying monthly.

If youāre planning to live in Thailand long term then a local provider makes more sense. Pacific Cross is one of the popular providers here.
Why does ut make more sense? I dont know about PCross but most people I know hsve difficulty getting reimbursed for Thai based carriers.

I have no insurance. Probably I'm dumb, but insurance here is very expensive and doesn't cover much.

Anonymous participant 613 trust me when I say this - I did that route and ended up in a really bad motorbike injury needing immediate surgery to replace the bones in my leg that shattered⦠$50k usd just for the surgery and hospital fees/stay. Get insurance. Worth it

Anonymous participant 360 sorry that happened to you!
Important to note that you need to have the proper license to even be covered when in an accident. Just saying bc many foreigners don't actually have a motorcycle license
they are health insurance brokers in Thailand and very helpful

Hey there! š When it comes to health insurance in Thailand, donāt overthink it ā just get covered. The stats donāt lie: most expat mishaps happen within the first 3 months š . Whether you go local or bring coverage from home, the goal is simple ā peace of mind so you can actually enjoy life here. Think of it as your invisible guardian: it doesnāt stop adventures, it just makes sure a little stumble doesnāt turn into a big setback. š”āØ
