Hey guys, I’ve had a non O retirement for several years. I gave it up to go work in China for several years. Now I have a tourist visa and I’m going to change it a non o based on retirement again.

I have a question about the correct forms. Do I fill out the TM.7 ? Or is there a different form for converting tourist to non O ?

Tnx in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking clarification on which form to complete for converting a tourist visa back to a Non-O visa based on retirement after working abroad. The responses indicate that while a tourist visa cannot be converted directly to a Non-O visa, the user can apply for a Non-O visa while in Thailand with a tourist visa. The appropriate forms vary depending on whether the user entered Thailand on a pre-purchased tourist visa or visa-exempt entry. Additional requirements include having a sufficient balance in a Thai bank account and adhering to specific timelines for application.

Unfortunately, it looks like I have to wait until I get there to get the TM.86 as I get this when downloading. TM.7 is fine

, If you haven't applied for 30 days tourism extension yet, go to CW to apply for 30 days with TM.7 form, get the requirements list for an initial in-country Non-O visa based on being over 50 (changing type of visa) and form TM.86. Then get necessary documents as soon as possible to go CW again to apply for in-county Non-O.

Here is general information for tourism extension. You may need TM30 receipt.

, thank you. Must I apply for 30 day tourism extension or can I just apply for the non O ? I still have over a month left of my tourist visa.

, If you have enough days with your current stamp, you don't have to get a tourism extension. Forget about TM.7 now, but go to CW to get the latest requirements for Non-O retirement and get ready.

You can't convert a tourist visa to a Non-O visa. But you can apply for a Non-O visa while inside Thailand on a tourist visa. The forms
@Ellie ******
mentioned are the ones you will need. You will also need either 15 or 21 days remaining on your current stamp depending where you want to apply. You will also need 800k baht in a Thai bank transferred from overseas before you apply, again some offices vary and at least one wants the money in the bank for 2 full months before you apply. The best is to go to your local immigration office and ask them for their requirements in advance of applying

, ok no problem, got it all then. Cheang Wattana is the immigration office that told me the easiest way was to go out, get a tourist visa and then change ( convert ) it to a non o.

a bit lost in translation I suspect. You must have been a bit short of time on your previous stamp hence them asking you to leave and come back. Apply for the 90 day Non-O while you still have more than 15 days left on your tourist stamp then when you have around 30 days left on that go apply for the annual extension.

well you’re correct about that. It’s actually a much longer story than that. But briefly so others don’t misstep…. While living in Cha Am after returning from China, I used a lawyer to help me get started back up again. They got me my 90 day non o and then converted to 1 year retirement. Went and did all my 90 day reports. Then bought a new house in Bangkok. Went to CW, did my TM 30 no problems. Then went to renew 1 year extension. PROBLEM. CW told me that they don’t have my retirement visa in the computer, they looked at my visa in my passport, then passed me up to the supervisor. Supervisor informed me that it was a real visa , but someone must have forgot to enter it into the system in Phetchaburi. I’m not going to say more about that !! Anyways supervisor was cool, told me to go out and back in with the tourist visa and then change it here. I did have some difficulty returning through immigration at Don Mueang. But eventually sorted out.

So everyone be cautious using lawyers or agencies. Vet them as well as you can before using them. I’ve been in Thailand 20 years now and never had any problems doing my visa stuff myself. The one time I was to lazy to do it cost me

a salutary tale. Good to hear Bangkok immigration were sympathetic.

TM.7 is the form for an extension for any reason and any period.

If you entered Thailand on an actual pre-purchased Tourist visa and were stamped for 60 days, TM.86 is the form for you to apply for an initial in-country visa.

If you entered Thailand on visa-exempt entry for 30 days, TM.87 is the form for an in-country visa application.
