TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster's DTV visa application was denied after 30 days due to a passport number format mistake. The visa authorities indicated that a character was incorrectly interpreted, likely the 'I' was read as '1'. Community members largely agree that the error stemmed from a misread of the passport number, which is common in automated systems. Recommendations include checking the Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) on passports for the correct format, starting a new application with the correct information, and contacting the embassy for potential assistance.

Does the 3rd digit look like the 6th? If not, the 3rd isn’t a 1

You inputted the wrong passport number so it’s rejected, have to start a new application with correct passport info.

Email them as you should be able to proceed under the original application for minor oversight like that.

You may wish to use google translate so your email is in Thai and English and French

Use snip tool on your computer screenshot and highlight your passport page the passport number and send it with he email

my name is KÜNZLER.

That's how it's written on my passport. When I write KUENZLER to Thai authorities, etc., I often have problems. Even at airport check-in. So, how do I write it when applying for the DTV visa?

KUNZLER or KUENZLER?

F that's annoying. I'm from the USA with Swiss heritage and my last name is Kälin originally now spelled Kaelin because of English vs Swiss German. I could see how that would be a massive problem.

Check the Machine Readable Zone (at the bottom of your passport bio page) however your name is written there is the “correct” spelling for visa and entry paperwork.

This may differ from your native language spelling

I think KUNZLER. My boyfriend has an “Ö” in his name, when applying for something visa-related, we always just use “O” with the remaining letters.

I’m not so sure if the statement from chatgpt is 100% correct but I’m also not sure if I’m 100% correct either, but last time my boyfriend applied for the METV, we put in “o” and not “oe” and he got approved.

Anonym deltagare 331 that won't help or change anything... Wrong passport information means visa cancellation. The OP needs to submit a new application with the correct info and pay a new application fee.

When you upload your passport photo, the system tries to read your passport number and fill it in for you. It's very bad and often fills in the wrong number. They ask you to verify it at least twice before submitting, because an incorrect passport number is an instant cancellation of application.

It looks like that is what happened to you. So now you have to apply (and pay) again, and verify everything this time.

Sounds like the computer scan read it wrong and you didn’t check. Nothing you can do. Only option is to start over with new application
