Why was my DTV visa application canceled due to passport issue details?

I am currently applying for a DTV visa in Taiwan. However, my application was cancelled for the following reason:

"Your visa application has been cancelled. Wrong Personal Info: Country/Territory of Passport / TD does not match with passport."

I suspect this is because I entered “Consulate-General of Japan in Detroit” as the place of issue. My passport is Japanese, but it was issued in Detroit. I believe this might have caused the error. I am thinking of reapplying, but do you think it would be approved if I set the place of issue to “Japan” instead? Has anyone experienced a similar situation?

This has come up before, and the answer is to put your home country as the place of issue

In my case, my non Korean passport was issued in Korea. On Place of issue I wrote Seoul, and my DTV was approved. I got it trhu the Thai Embassy in Korea.

gotta be careful, because there's a caer posted in this group that did same as you (added place of issue different than the passport country) and got rejected.

I have the same case, a passport issued in a different country than my own, and I added my own country to my application and it worked. Hard to understand 🤷🏾‍♂️

Oh, maybe I just need to put “Japan,” right? Even though “Consulate-General of Japan in Detroit” is written in the authority section.
