Should I include a note about my passport number containing a zero when applying for the DTV?

Hey, I’ve had recurring issues with my passport number because it contains a zero (0), and some authorities or offices mistakenly treat it as the letter O.

Do you think it makes sense to include a note about this when applying for the DTV? I don’t want my application to be rejected because the passport number doesn’t match or something like that.

I was thinking of adding an extra page into the passport upload, since I’m not sure where else I could mention it. What do you think?

TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat is concerned about their passport number, which contains a zero that some might confuse with the letter 'O.' They are considering adding a note during their DTV application to avoid potential rejection due to mismatches. Comments suggest that since applications are machine-processed, entering it as a zero should suffice, but caution that the number must match the machine-readable zone (MRZ) and advise careful verification of the data before submission.

After you upload your passport photo the OCR will read the data and fill in the zones. It's your job to triple check, edit if necessary and make sure everything is correct before submission. Mistakes in biodata are an immediate cancelled application.

No just type it in as a zero

As lots of other people do

It’s all read by machines so it’s not as if a person is going to misread the 0 as O
