Hi,

My Non-Immigrant O 90day multiple entry is approved (thai wife) and valid till august next year.

Now my question is;

After 90 days i need to leave 🇹🇭 border run to activated another 90 days or i only need to show my face at immigration office?

I would like to stay 180 days (6months)

I hope someone can help me out 🥹

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Non-Immigrant O visa grants an initial 90-day stay. After this period, you must leave Thailand and can return immediately for another 90-day stamp. Alternatively, you can apply for a one-time 60-day extension for family visits, but this extension would not meet your goal of a total stay of 6 months. If you plan to stay for 180 days, leaving for a border run to reset your visa is advisable. After extending your visa for one year, you will be required to report your address to immigration every 90 days.

With a non-immigrant O visa (mariage or retirement ?) you have an initial 90 days.

Before that time is up, you can extend it to 1 year.

To do so, you need a certain amount in a Thai bank account (400K if mariage, 800K if retirement), and some other stuff.

You best check the immigration website or go to an immigration office for a complete and up to date list.

Extention costs about 2K.

(All amounts in Thai Baht)

After your visa is extended to 1 year, you need to show your face at the immigration office every 90 days (called: 90 day reporting) to re-confirm your address.

You can also do this on-line at the immigration website.

You will receive permission to stay in Thailand for 90 days. After that you must leave Thailand but you can return immediately with a new 90 day stamp.

ONE TIME during the entire duration of your visa, you can apply for a 60 day "Visiting Thai Family" extension. I'm not sure if that will be useful to you because if you get your 90 days and apply for an extra 60, you won't reach 6 months. And if you get your 90 days and leave and re-enter, you'll get your 6 months so won't have a need for the visiting Thai Family extension.

Thanks alot for fast response.

What Iff i do first the 60 days extension so im 5 months in thailand. After that i can do border run and come back and get another 30 “free days” ?

Because its little difficult to explain but when i need to do border run after the first 90 days my parents coming over from europe so its maybe better to extend for 60 days first and use the border run later..

Perfectly fine. You'll get a new 90 day stamp when you make your border run regardless of how much time you need. Just know that once you use your 60 day extension, you can't get another until you have a new visa next year.

re 90 days. I've always wondered you buy an air tix and get stamped out and re-enter (stamped in) WITHOUT actually boarding the plane?

You have to stamp into another country. So you stamp OUT of Thailand, arrive in another country, cross their passport control to "enter" that country, then you can return to Thailand. If you show back up at passport control and they see you never entered another country, they consider it that you never really left.
