Just received a Non immigrant O multiple entry e visa from RTE London, visa valid for 1 year but length of stay in Thailand is 90 days, does this mean border run every 90 days or is there another option ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Non-Immigrant O multiple entry e-visa allows for a stay of up to 90 days per entry, requiring border runs every 90 days to renew the stay. However, if obtained based on family ties, there's an option for a 60-day extension without leaving Thailand, applicable only once during the visa's validity. It's essential to verify the visa type, as there may be confusion between single and multiple entry visas.

My betting is he only has a single entry visa or they issued a ME Non O by mistake.

London since they moved to E visa application in 2019 along with everywhere else using E visa,no longer issue ME O visas

I understood that a Non O is a 90 day visa that is extended for 1year at immigration office in Thailand. I have a Non O and that's what I do and know others doing the same. The only difference is I arrived on tourist visa and converted in Thailand.

I am sure someone with more knowledge will clarify soon ๐Ÿ™

Yes I had to get normal non O in July 2020 was only way in then because of covid and we have had home visits every extension, despite the fact one of the immigration officers lives around the corner.

It suits me because i am in and out of the country all the time for work and dates of extensions may not suit my work

oh ok ,if you have to leave then I see the advantage. ๐Ÿ™

I thought you don't have to use all the year long 90 days border hops/bounces but indeed as

says e.g. a 60 day extension visiting Thai family (Think the visa (rest of the time)) is void then ? But also you can make a year extension if you have all requirements before all border hops are used. Possible that this only could be done in covid times ? Just ask your imm. office. Think that's the safest approach. Normally you have to do the border hops indeed. If you do the last border hop just before the visa is expired, you can almost get a year and 3 months stay.

Using the 60 day visiting Thai family extension will not void your visa. You actually can't cancel a visa, only an extension.

no he has non O multiple entry slightly different

@Michael *******
oh ok , what is the benifit of that ?

@Russell ******
No need to keep money in Thailand. No home visits or all the paperwork you have to do for extension. No need to buy re entry permit.No 90 day reporting.

Suits regular travellers like myself I will be changing to this one. As also wife has to use two days of her leave in getting extension, one for application and one day for home visit.

oh ok. Have you actually had a home visit? I was told they might come but nobody turned up. 90 report can be done in a minute online . Big bonus not having to have funds in account , but don't you spend a large amount leaving every 90 days .

Interesting to hear there is yet another visa to add to the confusion , but it's good for the visitors ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

If you got the Non-O on the basis of Thai family (wife, child) you can also get a 60 day visiting Thai family extension one of your entries without leaving Thailand, but generally you can only do that one time during the duration of your visa.

But yes the 1 year multiple entry non-O requires you to leave at least every 90 days and get a new stamp.

Thanks, would the new stamp be 30 by land ,45 by air or another 90 days ?

It will be 90 days every time you enter before the expiration of your visa regardless of land, air or sea entry.
