What are my options for visa extension after my 90-day NON-O visa in Thailand?

Aug 18, 2024
Hi, just need some advice I am staying in Thailand on a type 0 non immigration 90 day visa as I’m visiting my Thai husband. What are my options after the 90 days are up? Can I extend it at my local immigration office for another 90 days? Or will I have to leave the country and re enter on another visa?

Thanks for any advice 🙏🏼

TLDR : Answer Summary
After your 90-day NON-O visa expires, you have a couple of options. You can apply for a 1-year extension at your local immigration office based on your marriage to a Thai national. To do this, you’ll need to provide a marriage certificate and ensure you have the required funds (at least 400,000 THB) in your account for two months prior to your application. Alternatively, you could leave Thailand and apply for a new visa upon re-entry.

and would I need to show proof then?

Also I thought after the 1 year extension.. I would then have apply for a marriage visa and have that visa for at least 2 years before I can apply for citizenship?

Does this just stand for the 1 year extension on the O non immigration 90 day visa?

as a female married to a Thai male she doesn't need any funds for an extension. She just needs to be able to show she's officially married and go with her husband to apply for an extension.

, OP doesn't need to have funds in a Thai bank account. There is no financial requirements for a foreign female marrying a Thai husband.

yes that will not be a problem. Will it have to be in a Thai bank account or my own country’s bank?

You don't need 400k in the bank. That's only for males married to Thai women. A foreign woman married to a Thai man doesn't need this

I did have to show proof when I applied for the O non immigration of 400k. So with the extension I won’t have to show any proof? Is this correct?

, you are correct. No financial proof for a foreign female to apply for 1-year extension based on being married to a Thai husband at the local immigration office inside Thailand. As I wrote in my first comment, you should go to the local immigration office for the requirements handout to check what documents you really need to prepare, including whether you need to provide your husband's finances or not. Detailed requirements vary by office.

You can go to your local immigration office to apply for a 1-year extension based on being married to a Thai national. You need to get some official documents such as a marriage certificate, etc. Go to the local office and get the latest handout for their requirements.

You can apply for an extension until the last day of your current stamp.
