Do I need to do a border crossing for my Non-O visa renewal in Thailand?

you can't get the eVisa when you're INSIDE thailand AND only certain countries (I think 28 right now participate in the eVisa program)

Also that eExtension doesn't really speed up the process and is not a free service. You still go, you still turn in your paperwork, you still queue up, AND you pay for the ability to do it.

I'd say just make an appointment at the online booking site at the immigration office you're going to use, show up 15 minutes early with your documents prepared and go that route.

IF you get a year EXTENSION OF STAY on a Non-O visa you do 90 day reporting. There is NO Non-O visa sold inside thailand that is multi-entry, in fact there is no Non-O visa sold inside thailand that is ANY entry because you're already IN the country when you get the visa.

Do not confuse a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa you get from a thai consulate outside the country before you come here with a Non-O visa, a year extension and a re-entry permit that you get from the thai immigration office after you're inside thailand

In case you are planning to do the “change of visa type” from a Tourist visa or visa-exempt to a Non-Imm-O retirement Visa, you can only get the single entry 90 days type, NOT the multi entry type.

You will have to apply for the 1-year extension of stay 30 days before the 90 days are up. . . in order to apply for the change, you will need a minimum of 15 days left on your admitted stay stamp, and you either need 800.000.- THB in your Thai bank account along with the proof it came from abroad, OR an Embassy affidavit of a monthly income (if your embassy issues them).

You will receive a “90-days single entry Non-Imm-O retirement visa”, first 14 days “under consideration”.15 days later you can pick up your visa stamp. Then as soon as the 800K have been sitting in your account for 2 months, you can apply for the “1-year extension of stay based on retirement”
