Hey experts! I arrived here in Thailand 2 months ago with a non B . I applied for work permit and the work permit I got had the validity for 3 months just according to the validity of my non B visa (90 days). The labour office told me once you extend your visa ( for 1 year) then you have to come to us and we will extend your work permit too.
Last friday I went to immigration to extend my visa but the officer told me you should extend your work permit first and then come to me. My question is that is it normal? Or is it something new? Because the first step was to extend the visa first and then the work permit.
my second question: will the labour department extend my work permit befor my visa?
Your comments/suggestion would be appreciated! TIA ๐

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking clarification on whether it's standard practice to extend a work permit before a Non-B visa extension, as they were advised by immigration to do so after initially being told the opposite. Responses from others suggest that while the typical order is to extend the visa first, practices may vary by location, and in some cases, the labour office can require the work permit to be extended first.
I've got extensions of stay/work permit for many years on the trot, and it's always been extend the visa first and then extend the work permit. I suppose it depends on the immigration office/labour office in each area. I'm in Ubon.
