Needing some assistance please:

Obtained Non-B Visa 90 days (for teaching) in Savannakhet which will expire Sep 24th.

School has now obtained all relevant documents required for Work Permit and appropriate Visa.

Submitted documents to Labour Office last Thursday who have confirmed that WP will be issued this Tuesday 19th September. (Roi-Et)

Contract of employment ends on March 31st 2024. I am assuming that the WP will be issued until this date.

This is where I am stuck/confused.

Once the WP has been issued, I will visit Immigration to get NON-B Visa... (they are next door to each other)

What are the costs for the visa and the length of validity?

Since the last time I went through this process (2017) the rules and regulations have changed

Previously it was 5000 baht for WP to the expiration date of the contract and then Immigration would issue Non-B to the expiry date of the WP regardless of how many months, for 1900 baht single enntry.

Could you please advise what Non-B will be issued and for how long and the cost please.

Basically what are my options.

Thank you.

Andrew.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking assistance regarding the process of obtaining a NON-B visa extension after receiving a work permit for teaching in Thailand. They have a 90-day NON-B visa expiring soon and are confused about the next steps after the work permit is issued. A commenter clarifies that instead of applying for a new NON-B visa, the user should apply for a 1-year extension based on employment at the immigration office for a fee of 1,900 baht, regardless of the extension length. The user is advised to gather the necessary documents from their employer to complete this process.

You are not applying for Non-B visa anymore. You will apply for a 1-year (max) extension based on employment for a 1,900 baht fee at the immigration office.

Once your work permit is issued, you also get the required documents from your employer, and bring both to the immigration office to apply for an extension. Your extension will depend on the documents your employer prepares. You need to talk with your employer.

The official fee for any extension is 1,900 baht regardless of the length of the extension, same for 30 days or 1 year.

You don't have many options. You go to the immigration office with the appropriate documents to apply for an extension.

When I had that problem years ago just went to immigration with the receipt and they extended a month at no cost to allow more time.

that is NOT how it's done at most offices and I have no idea why they did that for you ๐Ÿ˜• I haven't seen that happen before

good they did it though. I guess the O/P is out nothing asking at his office ๐Ÿ™‚

Documents are fine.

Confirmed this with Labour Office then my coordinator took me to Immigration to see if they would issue Non-B extension with just the receipt... Of course the Immigration Official said 'No' but he did say that once the Work Permit is in my possession, come back to see him and Visa extension would be granted (once fee is paid) and completed within ยฝ an hour.

sadly if the documents aren't ready in time there's no "short term" extension that can buy any time. They'd have to exit and get a NEW Non-B visa to start over again

Thank you Ellie for your detailed response. That's what I thought. The new coordinator at the school hasn't been involved in this process before. He advised me differently, which created my uncertainty and post.

Thank you for your time.๐Ÿ™
